HOT AIR BALLOONING
IN THE AMERICAN RIVER VALLEY
We launch the balloon from the banks of the American River at the
EarthTrek Expeditions Campground in Lotus. During the flight you
will be treated to unique views of the American River Valley and
a true ballooning adventure. We may even do a little whitewater
“Splash & Dash” and actually float down the river
with the balloon if conditions allow and passengers don’t
mind a bit of water! An amazing way to see the American River Valley!
This is adventure ballooning at its best! We will be flying over
water, tall trees, and stunning scenery. In the early morning hours
it is not unusual to see a variety of wildlife. Landings often involve
flying at treetop level and quickly dropping into a small meadow
for a soft landing! We follow up each flight with a champagne celebration
and picnic at the landing site.

Meeting Times: 6:00 AM during summer. Please be
prompt as we cannot delay the launch time.
What to wear/bring: Dress in layers as it will
warm up later in the morning. Closed toe shoes, sorry no sandals.
Camera with lots of film/memory. Sunscreen, mosquito repellant,
hat, and happy face. Sorry, but no cell phones are allowed to be
“on” in the basket unless previously arranged.
This is a great and affordable way to get
in the air above the Valley. We do our best to create a
fun and exciting environment for all! Unlike your typical
“romantic” flight where the pilot tries to been
seen or heard as little as possible the group rides are
all about having fun. The pilot is full of good flying stories,
jokes and is all in all there to have as good a time possible
with the passengers.
The flight is tailored to the desires of our
passengers and can be quite exciting!
We follow this flight with a champagne toast
and some yummy snacks! After which you will be presented
with your Aeronauts certificate and safely dropped off at
our original meeting place.

Combos
This special package includes a night camping with a cabin
tent at EarthTrek Expeditions followed by an early morning
hot air balloon flight over the the American River Valley
and then an afternoon raft trip down either the Lower Gorge
or the Upper Chili Bar section of the South Fork American
River.
