North Fork American River is the jewel of the Northern Sierra, the North Fork plunges free and natural through a deep and narrow wilderness gorge. Almost five miles of non-stop Class IV rapids, including Chamberlain Falls, Staircase Falls and Bogus Thunder are encountered before stopping for lunch. After lunch the river mellows to Class II-III giving you the opportunity to soak in the wonderful beauty of this Sierra paradise.

Because of the free flowing nature of the North Fork American River, it is runnable only in the late spring-early summer when the Sierra snows are melting creating miles of continuous Class IV rapids. This is THE YEAR to experience the North Fork American.

Meet us at 8AM* at our South Fork Camp in Lotus and we'll shuttle you to the North Fork American River for an exciting day of rafting, including lunch.

*Please Note: Because of strict State Park put-in times, our meeting time may change. We will update you on the exact meeting time for your trip when you make a reservation.

We begin our two day combination trip with a warm-up run on the South Fork American before moving on to the second day challenge of the Class IV+ North Fork American River. Two nights camping at our deluxe South Fork Camp is included with five meals. You will need a wet suit for the North Fork which EarthTrek can provide for a modest rental fee.

2 rivers in one day. An early morning warm-up run on the Chili Bar section of the South Fork will be followed by an afternoon run down the Class IV+ North Fork with lunch included.
